Anonymous asked: you draw very nice. my eyes have been blessed /u\
(this is the cutest message + reaction smiley combo, omg)
and thank you, that’s high praise! uhm, i’m gonna plug, but if you like my drawings please check out craig mullins, john singer sargent, xamag-homestuck on tumblr and paperseverywhere on tumblr— they are huge art inspirations to me lately (among others) and if you like my stuff i think you’ll really like them! :D
yeah, absolutely! they’re not too fancy though-
basically just your default round brush at 80ish% opacity. :P
if it helps, to get that painty effect, i use 70-90% opacity brushes because they let you blend colors in a nice, organic way? i don’t know how to explain this without pictures, so:
apologies if you already knew all that— i’m not sure if this is like, blending 101 or not, heh. but yeah, from there it’s just tweaking the opacity and brush size, and making sure to block things in starting with large brushes (like, 150px on a 1600*1600 canvas) and getting increasingly smaller.
i do think it’s pretty neat that you can use the undo shortcut as a mixing tool in and of itself, just like a brush or a selection lasso, though!
haha, sorry to dump tl;dr all over your question— hopefully somewhere in there is the answer you were looking for. and thanks for asking! i’m really glad you like the style, and it’s always fun to talk about technical stuff. :D
